Bookbinding is the art of fastening pages together inside a cover to make a book. All bookbinding was done by hand until the 19th century.
Here is an example - this copy of the Odyssey by Homer is bound in black leather and ray fish skin by the Greek bookbinder Alexia Kokkinou. The golden dots symbolize Ulysses's ten-year trip.
